Johnson & Johnson announces that its single-dose covid vaccine is 85% effective

Johnson & Johnson's coronavirus vaccine was 85% effective in preventing severe cases, based on the results of the phase 3 trial.
The data comes from more than 45,000 volunteers in the United States, South Africa, and several countries in Latin America.

The US company, which made the vaccine together with Janssen Pharmaceuticals, will apply to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for an emergency use authorization next week.

The FDA could authorize the vaccine in late February, making it the third available against COVID-19 in the United States, along with Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna.
